When planning to promote a website, whether it’s your own or not, I have a few recommended requirements that I think you should follow to ensure that your Internet marketing campaign will be successful. But before you start to scrutinize the website, you have to determine how you plan to market it first.
Suppose you plan to print a brochure for your business. The printing company is going to set their price based on the quantity of brochures you’d like to print, AND the number of colors you want to use in the brochure. You are also limited by the amount of text and photos you can squeeze onto that 8 ½” x 11” paper. When you run out of brochures (or when the information becomes outdated, which is usually what happens first), you must pay the printing company to do another run.
But your company website is a lot more nimble. You can make your website work like an online “brochure.” Hundreds of thousands of people can read it at the same time, without paying for hundreds of thousands of “copies.” When the information in your online brochure becomes outdated, the changes can be made in a minute or two, at no cost.
Search engines like web pages that are update regularly. Update your web pages at list once a week. Web pages which have not been updated are dropped by some search engines. You can even put a date counter on the page to show when it was last updated.
Search Engine Optimization. One of the most well known approaches to internet marketing is search engine optimization. This approach deals with changing and designing your website in ways that will make it rank better on the search engines. This can be done in a variety of ways, such as adding key rich content to your site and getting more incoming links to your site. Some marketers find that this is not the best marketing choice, since there are only ten spots on the first page when people do a keyword space and it is difficult to get and keep your site in the top ten.
Traffic shows up to your website because they have something in mind they are looking for, so give them additional value on top on your main niche subject. For affiliates and joint venturer partners you can place links to their sites and ask them to do the same for you. You can also advertise non competitive products on your website for other people so that they will do the same for you.
If your website has content that’s meaningful to people, it too will become viral. People who visit your website will begin sharing a link to your website with their friends and you’ll reach more people than you ever thought possible.
Enticing users to return to your web site is a matter of establishing a connection between the individual and your business. Customers can do this easily by walking into a store, but with web pages this "atmosphere" is difficult to create. To be successful, you need to create an environment in which the customer can feel welcome, and remember you by.
